Lets Make A Band

Boom! Who wants to be in the band? I’m thinking Deftones meets Rage meets Fear Factory. Blast beat double bass with singing and gargling drywall screws vocals. Lets sub it out with powered sub woofers! Detuned

Avenged Sevenfold is coming to Hawaii soon and is gonna need an opening act at Blaisdell.  Get at me via facebook: Damon Boiser

ADMX: Air Division Moto

A new sport is here for extreme wheelers that take to the sky and its called ADMX. Air Division Moto is an acronym that I came up with for these types of sports as we push the boundaries into the unknown, accomplishing feats that aren’t mainstream or in most cases haven’t even done before.

Here you can check out Mogo Wheelchairs ADMX rider Damon going Over The Edge 40 stories for Special Olympics Hawaii as he sponsors their Athlete program. Hosted by The Hyatt Regency Waikiki Resort this event is held annually for SOH.

Stay tunes as fun times in skydiving, Offroad 4×4 Wheelchairing, windtunnel body flying to name a few are explored. Mahalo to all who support dreams like these. Much aloha

WCMX First Try

Last night I rolled up the hill in  my neighborhood to the skate park. It was after hours and late and yes, pitch black. But I wanted badly to try rolling around nevertheless. And as my buddy Brett Martin taught me, “Make it happen!” Which is exactly what we did.

Me and buddy Mark charged around in the dark as he ran behind me shining the light from his cell phone and goproing. Mark spotted me up hills and on table tops.

Pure fun was had!! Much aloha – Damon

Over The Edge 2014

Special Olympics Hawaii held their annual event Over The Edge, a fundraiser for their athlete program. Each entrant must raise a minimum $1000 that will fund a single athletes sports program for one year.

This year I returned to sponsor this great cause and rappelled 40 stories down The Hyatt Regency Hotel in Waikiki. Last I set the record at 300 ft and by becoming the first and only chair user to do such a feat in Hawaii. This year I was able to break that record by adding an additional 100 ft.

And if that wasnt enough, rather than landing on an open area like everyone else we came in sideways through a balcony to avoid hoofing it up a few flights of narrow scaffolding stairs. Extreme all the way!

I’d like to thank all who supported me in this beautiful event. It was a great success! Aloha – Damon

Plane To Ground Transfer

Yesterday I woke up to a beautiful sunny day and thought what a great day for a jump at Skydive Hawaii. It was epic conditions, blue skies and perfect winds.

I had such a fun jump. We exited forward, somersaulting into freefall.  While burning a hole in the sky at 120 mph I practiced body positioning and left and right turns. After deploying chute I practiced some canopy work too. Thank you so much Brett Martin! Another awesome day at Skydive Hawaii.

Adaptive Horseback Riding at Manawale’a Riding Center

Another great day was had at Manawale’a Riding Center for some therapeutic horseback riding. Manawale’a will work with children of all ages regardless of mental or physical challenges and are able to accommodate large or small groups.

Depending on a riders experience and comfort, a beautiful trail ride is offered which includes exercises to help with balance and coordination.

Heres video we took of doing this. Also check out the video of the safe and comfortable hoyer lift used to assist with transferring on and off their horses. Aloha

Amazing Day At Manawale’a Riding Center

It was an amazing day at Manawale’a Riding Center located in Waimanalo on Oahu’s eastern shore. Manawale’a creates a safe nurturing environment where people with special needs can experience the unconditional love and bonding horses provide.

I got to work with Humvee, a beautiful and gentle mare. An adaptive saddle with a built in backrest and a hoyer lift made the transfer from wheelchair to horseback effortless.

Riding Humvee was incredible and with the adaptive saddle, balance was a breeze. As her shoulders rose in stride so did my thighs giving a sensation of walking. It was wonderful how she felt like an extension of my body. Afterward riding I got to spend time bonding and grooming Humvee.

The riding center was teeming with animal life from horses to dogs to cats and chickens. Such a beautiful experience!  Aloha

Reunion With Great Friends

Eleven years ago by chance, I met dear friends on the north shore of Oahu. Since then we have reunited often, finding many beautiful adventures together.

This year after a quick tire repair and yummy malasada pastries, we returned to Haleiwa on Oahu’s north shore to enjoy some delicious huli huli chicken with pineapple coleslaw. After lunch we wandered down the road to enjoy shave ice at Matsumoto’s. It hit the spot on such a hot day.

On the way home, we explored Dole Plantation and enjoyed pineapple ice cream.

The next day we drove to Keaiwa Heiau and also to Izumo Shrine. Both were breath taking! After exploring the Chinese Cultural Plaza we went on to Ala Moana to meet up with a friend for lunch. While finding our way to the restaurant we happened to see sumo Grand Yokozuna, Konishiki!

Lunch was great and we discovered that we were all the same level of spinal cord injury. So we instantly formed Team C6!

When leaving the mall parking lot we accidently forgot a wheelchair sliding transfer board only to return several hours later to find it in the exact same spot in the parking stall. There is so much aloha in Hawaii.

It was so wonderful to visit again and am already looking forward to more adventures with my beautiful friends from across the sea. – Aloha

Beautiful Day Swimming With Sharks

I had one of the most beautiful days in my life! It was an amazing day on the north shore of Oahu, perfect weather for a long time dream. The boat ride 3 miles offshore was breathtaking.

Upon reaching the dive location the boat idled for a bit, the sound of the diesel engines attracting the sharks to the surface. The metallic boat hull and propellers also give off electricity that’s attractive to these graceful creatures. I learned later that our bodies give off energy that the cage only amplifies which also attracts sharks.

As I sat at the edge of the boat preparing to descend into the cage I could see thru the crystalline waters a shark swimming directly below the cage. Much to my surprise seeing these amazing creatures underwater and up close was very peaceful. They swim with such a grace thats truly amazing. It was such a beautiful time and I look forward to continuing my relationship with life’s beauty. – Aloha
